Some of the most sought-after sheepdog bloodlines in Britain and Ireland go up for auction this week, as leading handlers from all four competing home nations donate stud services to raise funds for next month’s World Trial.
The online auction, hosted by Farmers Marts, goes live at 10am on Monday 17 August and runs for just 48 hours, closing at 10am on Wednesday 19 August. Every penny raised goes directly to the World Trial 2026, which brings 34 nations to Huntington Farm, near Lauder in the Scottish Borders, from 16–20 September.
For breeders, it is a rare chance to secure a very personal service from elite dogs at the very top of their game. The stud line-up includes:
Scotland — Chris Toner’s Niro Mace and Wullie Welsh’s Heyshaw Fletch
England — Sion Morgan’s Jaff and Moss, and Alex Wilkinson’s Kirkbymoor Moss
Wales — a service from any stud dog of Kevin Evans, and any stud dog of Aled Owens
Ireland — Paul O’Donnell’s Joe
Fiona McMillan, ISDS Scottish President and World Trial chair, said:
“We’re hugely grateful to these handlers for putting their dogs forward, and to Farmers Marts for hosting the auction. These are bloodlines breeders would travel a long way for, and for two days only they’re within reach, with every successful bid going straight to making next month’s World Trial the best it can be.”
